Wing Rig

This is a wing rig made in 3ds max using scripts and expressions.

I wanted the animating process to be semi automated so that thekey movements were there and the animator would could it and touch up the poses and build an animation very quickly.

Below is the controllers ive used to set this rig up. The Main controllers allow for wings to be folded or twisted at any stage.

I used an IK system for the wings so that when the wings were twisted there was a fall off. this allows one controller to twist it all rather than having to rotate each one manually. The controllers in the middle allowed for the wings to be fanned out and using some simple expressions you can give them a fall off fo them to have a natural look.
